14th December, 2020 – Newsletter No 1.2022 Reunion Newsletter No-1
The 2022 Collins Walton 50th Anniversary Reunion will be held on Bribie Island, Queensland, which is located approximately 70km north of Brisbane between Monday 23rd and Wednesday 25th May 2022.
The island is well populated and has great facilities, stunning surf beaches, 4wd tracks to explore, sheltered fishing areas on calm side, boating opportunities, two golf courses and much more. There are plenty of accommodation options; motels, units, cabins, AirBNB, etc and two caravan parks within 2-3km of the Bribie Island RSL which is where our functions will be held. The RSL operates a shuttle bus and the island has taxis and ubers. We have chosen a location out of Brisbane, Gold or Sunshine Coasts in an endeavour to make this reunion financially accessible to as many of our members as possible.
The document below outlines some of the facilities and distances to different towns, shopping centres etc. You may like to visit these places before or after the reunion if you are coming for an extended holiday.
The organising committee (Ron Nipperess, Glenn Murch and Kim Nisbet) are seeking expressions of interest of those who are considering coming to Queensland for the 50th Golden Anniversary Reunion of us joining the Royal Australian Navy. This EOI by no means commits you to attending, it is merely to gauge approximate numbers for booking function rooms.
Please complete the EOI form so we can get an idea of how many are considering attending. A registration form outlining all costs and any extras will be sent later.
The costs will be for food only (no drinks packages); you will be able to buy your own drinks at all functions at RSL prices.
If you have any ideas or input for the committee we would absolutely welcome them; please use the Contact Us form. Additionally if you know of any members who are not on email or social media, please let them know (although we do have some phone numbers and addresses for some).
